Soyinka condemns the cancellation of Isese festival.

Recently, reports on the cancellation of the Isese traditional festival. This came as a shock, as the festival had grown to be a part of the state’s traditions. Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, has however criticized the Emir of Ilorin for cancelling this festival. This truncation, he said in an open letter, was a huge crime against the cultural heritage of humanity and further alluded that Ramadan was celebrated inclusively across the nation. The Emir, Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, has since come out to note that the cancellation of this festival was to avoid chaos across the state.

Jabari Smith continues fine form in the Summer League.

Rockets’ youngster, Jabari Smith has been on the watchlist, after a debut season filled with injuries and a lot left to forget. The promising player has since shown signs of improvement since the start of the Summer league, in which Rockets remain unbeaten. In last night’s game against the Pistons, Jabari recorded 38 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in their 113-101 win. Tari Eason (26 points and 9 rebounds) and Cam Whitmore (21 points) also showed out in this game. Despite Piston’s loss, Jalen Durrens performance (tallying 23 points and 10 rebounds) did not go unnoticed, with fans lauding his huge performance.

Jaden Sancho’s transfer to Manchester United was filled with a lot of promises. The young English player who stunned the world with his consistency dazzled with his performances at Borussia Dortmund, has since failed to meet the expectations at Man. United. Despite promising signs, the winger has failed to stamp his place in the team’s first eleven. Reports have suggested that Man. United manager, Eric ten Hag is willing to give Sancho one last chance to prove his worth at the club or risk being traded.

Brothers set new Guinness World Records for display of strength.

Everyday, new records are set all over the world. In new publication, Guinness World Records have indicated that two Vietnamese brothers have just smashed the record for the most stairs climbed whilst balancing a person on the head. Showing great strength and resilience, the brothers made way through the stairs in just 52 seconds, making the challenge look almost effortless. The brothers had earlier broken this record in 2016, climbing 90 stairs but was beaten by Pablo Nonato and Joel Yaicate in 2018, climbing 97 stairs. This year, the brothers have broken the record again, climbing 100 stairs.

Will Smith teases son, Jaden on his 25th birthday.

The Smith family have been in the news a lot, with the Red Table and Oscars events. Jaden Smith, while celebrating his 25th birthday, was however teased by his father about not having kids yet. He took to social media to write, “When I was 25, I had a 2 year old… I’m just saying… what’s up? What you doin’ over there?” Despite this being an obvious joke, many social media users have since criticized Will Smith for his comment, questioning his ability as a father.
