Lionel Messi, de Bruyne and Haaland nominated for UEFA best player.
The nominations for the UEFA Best player awards are out and is also sparking wild controversies among football fans. Manchester City’ duo, Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland, as well as Lionel Messi have been shortlisted for the Men’s player of the year award. Haaland and de Bruyne won the treble, including the league and Champions League, however, it is Messi’s nomination that has shocked most fans. Despite winning the World Cup and league title, fans believe that Messi came up short in the UEFA Champions League. The UEFA body has however explained that the category is not restricted to UEFA competitions but players with the most phenomenal performances.
