Kendrick Lamar reunites hip hop stars at his “The Pop Out” show.

In what is now being regarded as the hip hop event of the decade, Kendrick Lamar celebrated the Juneteenth anniversary with the perfect one-off “Pop Out” show. In an event where fans expected a few guest artists, Kendrick surprised fans with 25 guest appearances including YG, Dr. Dre, Tyler-The Creator, Roddy Ricch and Steve Lacy. Many celebrities like Lebron James, Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan were also in attendance. K.Dot performed a 25-song set including hit records like “Money Trees”, “Alright” and diss records, “6:16 in LA”. While performing “Not Like Us”, K.Dot took more jabs at Drake, saying “Y’all ain’t gonna let anyone disrespect the West Coast… y’all ain’t gonna let nobody mock or imitate our legends, huh?”, before spinning the song three more times. After the show, Kendrick brought all 25 guest artists together and promised that “this won’t be the last of us”.

Simi announces release date for her fourth studio album, “Lost and Found”.

Nigerian singer and vocalist, Simi has been one of Afrobeats’ most successful female artists. Her debut album, “Simisola” is dubbed by many as one of the country’s classic projects. After releasing two singles this year with long-standing collaborator, Falz and Tiwa Savage, the award-winning star has now announced the release date for her fourth album. The project, “Lost and Found” included 14 songs with other collaborations from Lojay, Asa, Ladipoe, Bella Shmurda and Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey. While her last album, “TBH (To Be Honest)” failed to replicate the commercial success of her other projects, Simi is hopeful that this album will be well received. The album is scheduled for release on July 5.

Headie One is set to drop a new album, “The Last One” on June 28.

British rapper, Headie One is gearing up for the release of his second studio album, “The Last One”. This comes four years after his first album, “Edna” which was released in 2020 to pay homage to his mother. The new album contains an extensive 20-track list with collaborations across different continents. Some of the notable features include ODUMODUBLVCK, BNXN, Tay Iwar, Sampha, Beam, AJ Tracey, Aitch, Friday and Potter Payper. His hit record, “Cry No More” featuring Stormzy and Tay Keith is included as the project’s lead single. The album will be released on June 28.

Rapper, Central Cee teams up with Asake for a new single, “Wave”.

Barely two weeks after British rapper, Central Cee was spotted in Nigeria shooting a music video with YBNL sensation, Asake, the duo have finally released the much anticipated single. The new song, “Wave” is a groovy Amapiano record that instantly sets a perfect mood for partying. The song has gone on to debut inside the top 10 of Apple Music Nigeria. This is the first song off Asake’s upcoming album, “Lungu Boy”, a project which is set to retell the singer’s journey to fame from the street.

Burna Boy teases new music after his Louis Vuitton Paris Fashion Show appearance.

Acclaimed African giant, Burna Boy is yet to release a single this year. Despite appearing on collaborations with Usher, 21 Savage, as well as TitoM and Yuppe’s “Tshwala Bam”, his fans continue to clamour for an official release from the global superstar. He now looks set to release a new single. After an appearance at the Louis Vuitton Fashion Show in Paris, he teased a new record which seemingly features Seyi Vibez via his Snapchat. While it remains unknown when the song will be released, fans have expressed mixed feelings about this potential single.
