Canada shuts down TikTok offices in Toronto and Vancouver; allows app to remain.

Despite closing TikTok’s offices in Toronto and Vancouver, Canada has announced that it won’t block access to TikTok but has ordered the dissolution of its Canadian business, TikTok Technology Canada Inc., following a national security review of ByteDance, the app’s parent company. Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne stated that while Canadians can still use TikTok, the decision addresses risks linked to ByteDance’s presence in Canada. Champagne emphasized that using social media is a personal choice and urged Canadians to follow good cybersecurity practices. The dissolution order, made under the Investment Canada Act, was based on evidence from Canada’s security and intelligence agencies. Though Canada is not restricting the app, Champagne encouraged Canadians to use TikTok “with eyes wide open.” Canada’s action follows a broader trend where other countries impose restrictions on TikTok due to privacy and security concerns.

HBO denies rumours about Euphoria’s cancellation ahead of its third season.

Film critic Jeff Sneider recently cast doubt on Euphoria’s third season, suggesting in a now-private Twitter thread that the show was “dead” at HBO, with its planned 2025 production canceled. However, HBO responded, confirming to The Independent on Friday (November 8) that acclaimed tv series remains on schedule to start production in 2025. HBO’s head of drama, Francesca Orsi, had previously expressed excitement about the show’s return, stating in July that filming would begin in January with the main cast set to return. Despite HBO’s reassurance, fans remain uncertain, as Euphoria’s stars face packed schedules. Zendaya, who plays Rue Bennett, will be filming Dune: Messiah, Spider-Man 4, and a new Christopher Nolan project. Co-stars Jacob Elordi and Sydney Sweeney are also committed to upcoming projects, leading to questions about when Euphoria’s production will actually proceed.

Young Thug sparks fallout rumours with Gunna in now-deleted post.

Atlanta rapper, Young Thug and Gunna’s relationship appears strained following Thug’s recent release from prison, despite Gunna’s insistence on staying loyal to the YSL record label. Fans assumed they were on good terms after Thug’s lawyer requested permission for the two rappers to collaborate in 2024 to meet YSL’s contractual obligations. However, Thug’s now-deleted tweet, “Gunna stop acting like we friends on the internet, I don’t know you my guy,” sparked rumors of tension. While some believe Thug was simply using “Gunna” as slang, the tweet’s deletion and lingering allegations about Gunna cooperating with authorities continue to raise questions. Gunna’s lawyer, Steven Sadow, refuted these claims, asserting that Gunna has not cooperated with law enforcement and that his plea cannot be used against others in the YSL RICO case. There are also rumors that Thug’s X account was hacked.
