Federal government set to shut down Third Mainland Bridge for repair.

The Third Mainland Bridge is known to be the busiest bridge in Nigeria, linking road users through different routes of their destinations in Lagos. Recently, many Lagosians have complained about the state of the bridge, calling on the government to avoid pending hazards by enacting a high graded maintenance of the bridge. The federal government has however announced a 24 hour closure of the bridge to carry out the repairs on October 22. Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos state stated that the government was ready to carry out the needed rehabilitation works on the bridge, starting with the repairs of critical parts of the bridge.

The Las Vegas Aces have emerged winners in the 2023 WNBA finals.

The first team to win consecutive championships for the first time since the Los Angeles Sparks did it in the 2001-2002 season, was the Las Vegas Aces. In a tough series against the New York Liberty, the Aces battled it out till the final possession to win 70-69 and clinch the championship in the game four of the series. Two time MVP, A’ja Wilson who led the scoring with 24 points and 16 rebounds in the crucial game, was voted the Finals MVP.


This year’s MTV EMAs cancelled and will return in November 2024.

The 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) ceremony which was set to hold in Paris on November 5, has now been cancelled for security purposes. Despite the musical line up announced and the ticket portal due to be open for sales, the cancellation was announced. Reports are indicating that the devastating situation of the Israel-Gaza conflict is the reason for this decision. The organisers noted that with thousands of deaths and displacement in the Hamas war, this was time for mourning instead. The event however is expected to return in November 2024.

Wizkid receives new singles and album sales in Belgium.

Perhaps one of the most accomplished African artiste in history, Wizkid continues to take huge strides in the global music scene. His fourth studio album, “Made in Lagos”, one of the classic Nigerian albums with certifications across America and the UK, has just been certified gold in Belgium for the sale of 10,000 units in the country. Global hit off the album, “Essence” featuring Tems alongside 2019 hit, “Joro” have also been certified gold for the sale of 20,000 units each in the country. Wizkid extends the lead as the most certified African artiste.

Shallipopi launches new record label, announces two new artistes.

New Nigerian artiste, Shallipopi has been one of the biggest gainers of the Nigerian entertainment industry. With back to back hits, he has etched himself as one of the most accomplished new artistes this year. In a shoot for more success, he has just launched his new record label, Plutomania Records, further announcing the signing of two new talents, ZerryDL and Tega Boi DC. Shallipopi’s Plutomania Records will partner with Dapper Music, a record label home to Shallipopi himself.
