Benjamin Mendy has been cleared of all rape charges.
France international, Benjamin Mendy saw his world crumble after being arrested in August 2021, over accusations of rape and sexual assault. Due to the severity of these allegations, he was denied bail and subsequently removed from the Manchester City’s squad in September. Charged with 10 counts of rape and sexual assault, the former Manchester City defender was previously acquitted in January. Following a retrial with a Jury of six men and six women, the 28 year old player was cleared of all charges on Friday, following a unanimous acquittal by the jury. With some players like Pogba and Depay openly showing their support for Mendy, further sparking controversies about the place of the law to protect men against false rape allegations.
