An English-language Squid Game is reportedly in the works.
Director David Fincher may have a new Squid Game series in the works at Netflix, according to sources cited by Deadline. While rumors about Fincher’s next project have circulated for months, details on this English adaptation of the hit 2021 Korean show remain scarce. Insiders suggest Fincher, known for films like Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac, and Gone Girl, might complete a film first before fully dedicating himself to this Squid Game adaptation, likely in 2025. This development surfaces ahead of the anticipated second season of Squid Game, in which Lee Jung-jae will reprise his role as Seong Gi-hun. If confirmed, the adaptation would be the first scripted Squid Game spinoff, joining Netflix’s unscripted series Squid Game: The Challenge. With a video game franchise also in progress, the Squid Game universe continues to expand under creator Hwang Dong-hyuk’s original vision.
