Robert Downey Jr. to reportedly earn $100m for playing Dr. Doom.
At Cinema-Con, Marvel announced that Robert Downey Jr. will portray Dr. Doom in the upcoming Avengers films. Despite his character Iron Man’s death in Avengers: Endgame, Downey expressed interest in returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, new reports reveal that his return comes at a steep cost. According to Consequence, Downey will earn over $100 million in salary and bonuses for his roles in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. His deal also includes perks like private jet travel, dedicated security, and a “trailer encampment.” Additionally, Variety reports that Downey’s return was contingent on the Russo Brothers directing the films. This development has sparked frustration among fans over the significant pay disparity compared to that of black actors such as Angela Bassett.
