Austin Butler to star in a new adaptation of lEllis’s novel American Psycho.
Hollywood star, Austin Butler is set to star in Luca Guadagnino’s new adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’s novel American Psycho for Lionsgate. While rumors initially suggested Jacob Elordi might play the infamous Patrick Bateman, the role ultimately went to Butler. Interestingly, both actors have portrayed Elvis in vastly different films, Elordi in Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla and Butler in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis. The film, scripted by Scott Z. Ridley Scott discloses that Paul Mescal will star in an upcoming Beatles’ biopic.
Popular film producer, Ridley Scott may have accidentally confirmed that Paul Mescal will star in Sam Mendes’s upcoming four-part Beatles biopic. During a Los Angeles screening of Gladiator II, Scott mentioned Mescal’s involvement, saying, “Paul is actually stacked up, doing the Beatles next. So I may have to let him go.” While Scott didn’t specify which Beatle Mescal would portray, speculation points to him playing Paul McCartney. A Clayface movie written by Mike Flanagan is reportedly in the works.
DC Studios has officially greenlit a feature film centered on Batman villain Clayface, based on a script by Doctor Sleep director Mike Flanagan. Production is set to begin early next year, with Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris producing through 6th & Idaho Productions. Flanagan, who pitched the project in 2023, previously expressed interest in a horror-thriller take on the shapeshifting villain. However, with commitments to The Exorcist reboot for Universal and a Carrie series adaptation for Amazon, DC is searching for a director to helm the project, with an announcement expected soon. Clayface, first introduced in 1940, has evolved from a failed actor turned criminal into a shapeshifting menace. His portrayal spans animated and live-action adaptations, including Batman: The Animated Series. The project reflects DC Studios’ diverse storytelling approach, as co-chief James Gunn aims to embrace multiple genres across the DC Universe. It will reportedly commence filming in early 2025.
