A couple of weeks ago, Isreal Adesanya reclaimed the UFC Middleweight title, after knocking out Brazilian fighter, Alex Pereira at the FXT Arena, Miami. Recall Pereira had defeated Adesanya in their previous three matches, two of which were in kickboxing and then, an MMA clash. The Stylebender celebrated this victory by imitating the arrow-firing gesture at his opponent. This win takes his tally to 24 in the Mixed Martial Art (MMA), having suffered only two defeats.
Nigeria suffer first defeat in FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been handed their first defeat in the competition by Brazil. After a thrilling start which saw them defeat Italy and Dominican Republic in the earlier stages of the competition, the Flying Eagles looked poised to secure their first place in the Group D with a win over Brazil. This 2-0 defeat means that the losing streak against Brazil continues. With Italy also winning their game, Nigeria has now been dropped to third position in the group and will now qualify as the best loser. They will play Argentina in the Round of 16.
Remembering Hazel Scott, the musical genius.
Arguably one of the greatest musicians to have shared their gift, Hazel Scott was also known for her ingenuity at playing the classical and jazz piano. Scott, who started playing the piano at age four, received a Juilliard scholarship to study music at the age of eight, further proving her musical genius. She was popular for playing two grand piano at once and this act was said to have inspired Alicia Keys. Keys, one of the most successful female artistes in history, played two pianos at once during her performance at the 61st Grammy Award Show. Both artistes will forever be recognized for their musical ingenuity and the magic served with the piano.

Nigerian born Neo-soul musician and songwriter, Lindsey Chukwufumnanya Abudei, after a five years hiatus, has returned to the music scene with the release of her new EP, Kaleidoscope, and many anticipating fans have lauded the efforts put into creating the masterpiece. In a recent show, the musician serenaded the audience, who were mostly pleased to hear her sing Libra Man, a hit single off her album, “And The Bass Queen is Here”.

As Nigeria prepare for a new dispensation in its political sphere, there are wild anticipation as to what the next four years hold. An inauguration ceremony was enacted for the President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with the wait of his swearing in coming to an end. This inauguration ceremony saw numerous five-star artistes including Fireboy, Timaya, Bnxn, Zinoliski and Asake, amongst others, perform at the event. While some Nigerians have since frowned on these artistes for performing due to the rigmaroles that shaped the just-concluded elections, others have come to their defense, with the arguments that they are in fact just doing their jobs.
