Kanye makes bold claim about inventing current rap genre.
Perhaps one of the most influential global artists of all time, Kanye West’s emergence did not only change the hip hop style but also across fashion. In an exclusive interview with Big Boy, fans were quick to notice Ye’s comment on inventing the new styles such as auto tuning of music experimented by Drake, The Weeknd, Future and Young Thug over the last two decades. However, while some fans agree about this take, others have pointed to T-Pain being the pioneer of auto tune.
“I invented every style of music of the past 20 years. I created this genre. I created Weeknd's genre, Trav, Drake. I'm gon' head & say it, Future & Thug also.” – Ye

Wizkid further explains reason for denouncing the Afrobeats genre.
Global superstar, Wizkid took to his Instagram story to denounce being an Afrobeats artist on Friday evening. This however came with huge criticisms from fans and critics who feel this denouncement would hurt the genre’s global appeal. He has however taken to his Instagram to explain that while he is an African artist, his range goes beyond just one genre and as such, must not be boxed under the Afrobeats label. Recall Burna Boy also shared similar observations about African artists being labelled as just Afrobeats artists despite doing all sorts of music. Perhaps, with two of the biggest African artists raising awareness about this, the global music market will become more conscious about not boxing African artists with just the Afrobeats label.
🗣️ Wizkid via Instagram stories:
“Don’t be ignorant and stupid. Am I African? Yes. But I do all sorts of music. But I don’t want these labeled as just Afrobeats. That’s like saying every American does rap.” pic.twitter.com/4ZqxtkGhwU
