Canadian singer and songwriter, The Weeknd continues to break new heights across global streaming platform, Spotify. He has been the most streamed artiste on the platform over the past years, with his hit song, “Blinding Light” becoming the first ever song to surpass 4 billion streams on Spotify. Additionally, he has now made history again on the platform, as he becomes the artist with the most monthly listeners on the platform, hitting 115 million monthly listeners.

Dayo Okeniyi to voice a character in new sci-fi series, “Iwaju”.

Nigerian-American actor, Dayo Okeniyi has been identified to voice a character in new Nigerian original sci-fi animation which is set in a futuristic Lagos. He will join other Nollywood stars like Bisola Aiyeola, Femi Branch, Simisola Gbadamosi and Weruche Opia as some of the voice over characters for the Disney Plus special. Set to be premiered on February 28th, “Iwaju” is a first of its kind creation in the Nigerian entertainment scene and fans have shown immense excitement for this advancement in the Nigerian film industry.

Burna Boy joins Tems as Nigerian artistes with most Billboard 100 appearances.

Afrofusion artist, Burna Boy continues to take huge strides in promulgating the African music to a global scale. After featuring British-American rapper, 21 Savage on his hit song, “Sittin on top of the world”, the Nigerian star was also featured on 21 Savage’s newly released album, “American Dream” and the collaboration, “Just Like Me”, has just debuted on the US Billboard Top 100 chart, at number 67. With this, Burna Boy joins Tems as the Nigerian artistes with the most billboard 100 entries, with five each.

Kali Uchis debuts #1 on Vinyl albums chart with a Spanish-language album.

American singer and songwriter, Kali Uchis is making history with her new album, “Orquídeas”. Debuting at number 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart for selling over 58k first week copies, her Spanish-language album is enjoying a huge acceptance in the American market. “Orquídeas” has also just debuted at number one on the US vinyl albums chart, making history as the first Spanish language album to hit this huge feat.

Kanye West reveals release date for three different volumes for “Vultures”.

Kanye West’s upcoming collab project with TY Dolla $ign, “Vultures” has been subject to numerous postponements, despite a number of official album listening parties being held. In a new social media post, Kanye West has just revealed that the project will be in three phases, with the first volume set to be released on February 9th. The other two volumes will be released on March 8th and April 5th respectively. While most fans are excited about these potential releases, others are skeptical due to the constant album postponements.
