Nolan confirms Interstellar will be re-released in the cinemas this year.

Ten years after its original release, Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” is set to make a re-appearance in the cinemas this year. The acclaimed director revealed that the 2014 film will be re-shown on a IMAX 70mm to celebrate its 10th year anniversary. Paramount Pictures had earlier announced that the re-release would commence from September 27 during a presentation to executives and cinema owners last month in Las Vegas. The film grossed over $731 million when it was released and will be Nolan’s second film to be rereleased this year after Tenet.

Two of the all-time grossing movies, “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” enjoyed the biggest moments in the entertainment industry in 2023. The films, credited for “saving the cinemas”, sparked conversations about the impact of streaming platforms like Netflix on the cinemas. Netflix’s co-CEO, Ted Sarandos, while discussing the types of content suitable for Netflix in an interview with the New York Times, stated that “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” would have had the same success if the movies were released on the streaming service. He said, “There is no reason to believe that the movie itself is better in any size of screen for all people.”

Furiosa commences with a slow box office start on opening day.

Unlike last summer, the theatres are off to a slow start with new movies this year. Warner Bros’ “Mad Max prequel, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” earned a low $10.2 million across 3804 locations on its opening day and preview screening. It is also projected to gross below the $40 million industry estimates for its four-day period. For context, the 2015 “Fury Road” grossed over $16 million on its first day and despite not being a dominant box office hit, scored a $153 million in North America and $369 million globally. Regardless, the reviews have been very positive and many believe the enjoy a multiplier effect soon.

Coco Jones under attack for her comment on Mavin star, Ayra Starr.

Grammy award winning artist, Coco Jones has come under heavy criticism for her comment on Nigeria’s music princess, Ayra Starr. In a new interview, the RnB singer disclosed her love for Afrobeats, heaping huge praises on Ayra Starr as one of the Afrobeats artists she listens to. She however ended with the assertion that the “Comma” singer would be a star. This however came off wrong to many Nigerians who quickly took to social media to criticize Coco Jones with claims that Ayra was already more of a global superstar than she is. Perhaps, this is just an expression taken out of context. The sky is definitely wide enough for everyone to thrive.

Johnny Wactor shot dead in a suspected Los Angeles robbery attack.

“General Hospital” star, Johnny Wactor has been confirmed dead after being involved in a robbery in Los Angeles. The 37 year-old actor suffered fatal injuries after reportedly interrupting some men who were trying to remove the converter from his car. Describing this killing as senseless, Wactor’s mother explained to news sources that he was returning to his car when he sighted a man tampering with it and believing it was being towed, approached the man who proceeded to immediately shoot him. Many, including the producers of “General Hospital” have since taken to social media to share their tributes to the actor.
