Snow White opens with $16 million in the film’s domestic opening day.
Disney’s live-action Snow White opened to $16 million across Friday and preview screenings from 4,200 locations. Starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, the film is on track for a debut exceeding $45 million, making it the second-largest opening of the year after Captain America: Brave New World. However, with a hefty $250 million production budget, Snow White needs a strong box office run to turn a profit. Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King faced similar scepticism but ultimately grossed over $700 million worldwide despite a slow start. Conversely, Dumbo (2019) struggled after a comparable opening, reaching only $353 million globally. Unlike Mufasa, Snow White won’t benefit from the holiday season’s extended theatrical window. While the film has faced controversy and mixed critical reviews, audience reception has been more favourable, earning a “B+” CinemaScore. Disney is hoping positive word-of-mouth will help the fairy tale adaptation sustain momentum at the box office.

Severance creator, Dan Erickson says he hopes Season 3 comes sooner.
After a gripping season two finale, Severance is set to return for its highly anticipated third season. The Apple TV+ thriller, created by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller, follows employees at Lumon Industries who undergo a procedure splitting them into two identities: “innies” at work and “outies” in the outside world. The show has explored profound themes of consciousness and autonomy, led by Mark (Adam Scott) and Helly (Britt Lower). Erickson told Entertainment Weekly that he hopes Season 3 arrives sooner than the three-year gap between seasons 1 and 2, which was largely due to production delays caused by the writers’ and actors’ strikes. Despite these challenges, Erickson expressed excitement in returning to the show, noting the fresh perspective it gave him. Though he can’t provide a specific timeline, he emphasized that Severance is a meticulous process, and while they aim to speed things up, the team is committed to maintaining its quality.
