TikTok commences restoration of its service in the US hours after ban.
Hours after its ban implementation, TikTok began restoring its services in the U.S. on Sunday after President-elect Donald Trump announced that he would revive the app’s access once he returns to office. Speaking at a rally ahead of his inauguration, Trump confirmed that the U.S. would seek a joint venture to restore TikTok, which has 170 million American users. In a statement, TikTok thanked users for their patience, stating, “As a result of President Trump’s efforts, TikTok is back in the U.S.!” The app started returning online gradually, with access initially available through web browsers. Later, some users regained full functionality, but the app remained unavailable for download in U.S. app stores. The law banning TikTok, set to take effect Sunday, allows a 90-day extension if certain conditions are met, and many Americans expressed their joy at the platform’s restoration.

Sabrina Carpenter is being considered to play Rapunzel in Tangled live action.
Disney has announced a live-action adaptation of its 2010 animated classic Tangled, directed by Michael Gracey of The Greatest Showman fame, with a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge, Thor: Love and Thunder). While the cast has not been confirmed, Sabrina Carpenter, known for Girl Meets World and Sofia the First, is a strong contender for the role of Rapunzel. Mandy Moore, who voiced Rapunzel in the original film, expressed support for Carpenter, saying she “looks like a Disney princess.” Carpenter further fuelled speculation by dressing up as Rapunzel for Halloween 2023. For the role of Flynn Rider, Zachary Levi, the original voice of Flynn, suggested Timothée Chalamet, acknowledging he may be too old to reprise the role.
