Heartbreak as beloved Brooklyn rapper, Ka passes away at age 52.
Brooklyn rapper, producer, and firefighter, Kaseem Ryan (Ka), has passed away unexpectedly at age 52, according to a post on his Instagram. “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Kaseem Ryan (1972-2024), the rapper and producer known as Ka,” the post read. Born and raised in Brownsville, Ka led a life of service through his music and as a 20-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of captain. Throughout his career, Ka self-released 11 albums, including The Thief Next to Jesus in August 2024. Known for his intricate lyricism, Ka caught the attention of Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA and collaborated with him in 2008. He was beloved by fans for his DIY approach to music and fan engagement. His family has requested privacy as they mourn his loss.
