Afrobeats artistes nominated for Billboard Music Awards 2023.
The penetration of Afrobeats into the global music market has yielded significant benefits across funding, streams and award recognitions. The biggest music award shows now recognize Afrobeats as a global genre, hereby creating categories to suite the genre. After the Grammys and VMAs, Billboard awards have also created categories for the Afrobeats genre. The newly released nominations for the Billboard Music Awards 2023 features Afrobeats stars like Rema, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tems and Libianca, who have been nominated for the Top Afrobeats Artiste category. Ayra Starr, Libianca, Oxlade, Rema and Victony have also received nominations for Afrobeats Song at the 2023 Billboard Awards.

New music does not get any better than a plethora of Afrobeats music being released. This midnight promises to be one of those huge ones with many projects and singles set to be released. Rema’s “Ravage EP”, Blaqbonez long anticipated album, “Emeka Must Shine” and Mr. Eazi’s “The Evil Genius” are all set to be released later in the midnight. In the Nigerian rap scene, Reminisce will release his heavily featured album, “Alaye Toh Se Gogo” and traditional rap sensation, Erigga will also be dropping his much awaited album, “Family Time”.

Sandro Tonali banned for 10 months for illegal gambling in Italy.
Earlier this month, Sandro Tonali was alleged to have breached the regulations that prohibits football players gambling on football events. Upon completion of the investigation, the newly signed Newcastle midfielder has been banned from footballing activities for ten months and has also been fined €20,000. The 23 year old will not feature in the upcoming Euro competition , should Italy qualify. The Italian Football Federation included that a total of 18 months disqualification was agreed upon and the player will spend the remaining 8 months in therapy for his gambling addiction.

Odumodublvck creates new record with new project, “Eziokwu”.
Perhaps the new face of Nigerian hip hop/rap genre, Odumodublvck is etching his name in the history books. He is crossing global borders with his talent, representing Nigerian rap in big music rooms. His new project, “Eziokwu” has been doing astronomically well on charting platforms, both in Nigeria and the UK. The mixtape has spent two consecutive weeks at number 1 on the top 50 official albums chart in Nigeria. With “Blood on the Dance Floor” at number one on the official singles chart, “Eziokwu” makes history as the first rap album to spurn a number one hit in Nigeria.

Manchester United set to re-sign David de Gea on a short term contract.
The signing of Andre Onana over the summer has not met up with the expectations. Despite spending €50 million on the former Inter Milan goalkeeper, Manchester United are still being faced with immense goalkeeping challenges, conceding 20 goals in 14 games played this season. Amid concerns of Onana representing Cameroon in the upcoming AFCON tournament, new emerging reports are suggesting that Manchester United might be interested in re-signing their former goalkeeper, David de Gea on a short term contract.
