A new documentary on Chris Brown’s violent history to be released this October.

Investigation Discovery (ID) is continuing its “No Excuse for Abuse” campaign with a new documentary, Chris Brown: A History of Violence, set to be released this October. This comes moments after Chris Brown announced his concert dates in Brazil and South Africa. Following ID’s recent announcement of a documentary on Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, this new project will focus on Chris Brown’s long history of legal issues, including domestic violence and assault charges. The documentary delves into Brown’s troubled past, dating back to his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna, which resulted in severe injuries. It also covers subsequent legal troubles, including a separate assault charge and a settled sexual assault lawsuit. The documentary will pose the question of how Brown has maintained his superstar status despite his violent record. Featuring expert commentary and survivor testimonies, it aims to explore the lasting psychological impact of abuse, with a new accuser coming forward in the trailer.

Marvel and DC lose their joint right to the “Super Hero” trademark.

Over the weekend, Bleeding Cool reported that Marvel Comics and DC Comics have lost the rights to the “super hero” trademark. The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) canceled their claims to several trademarks after a challenge from Superbabies Limited, a small company producing Superbabies comics. S.J. Richold, the creator of Superbabies, initiated the challenge after DC attempted to block his efforts to promote The Super Babies, according to his legal team. Marvel and DC failed to respond by the July 24, 2024 deadline, resulting in the USPTO canceling four trademarks, including the “SUPER HERO” mark, originally registered in 1967. However, the two companies still jointly own the “SUPER HEROES” trademark, registered in 2018, and a “SUPER-VILLAIN” trademark, secured in 1985. This development could have significant implications for the comic book industry.
