Cillian Murphy wins best lead actor at the Irish Films and Television Awards.
The 22nd Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs) celebrated the best in Irish and international cinema, with Small Things Like These winning the Best Film and Conclave named Best International Film. Cillian Murphy claimed Best Lead Actor for his role in Small Things Like These, following his Oscar win for Oppenheimer. The Cork-born actor faced strong competition, including members of the Belfast rap group Kneecap. The Irish drama, in which Murphy plays a coal merchant haunted by dark secrets within a Catholic convent, also triumphed over Kneecap, starring Michael Fassbender, for the night’s top film honour. Saoirse Ronan took home two awards—Best Lead Actress for The Outrun and Best Supporting Actress for Blitz. Demi Moore (The Substance) and Ralph Fiennes (Conclave) won in the international acting categories, while Colin Farrell (The Penguin) and Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters) earned TV accolades. The ceremony was held in Dublin on Friday.

The first teaser for highly anticipated Bridgerton season 4 has been released.
Netflix treated Bridgerton fans to a special Valentine’s Day surprise with a first look at Season 4, including exclusive images and behind-the-scenes footage. The upcoming season, currently in production in London, stars Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton and Yerin Ha as his love interest, Sophie Baek. This season follows Benedict, the bohemian second son, who has resisted settling down—until he meets the mysterious Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball. Showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed that Season 4 is the most faithful adaptation of Julia Quinn’s books so far, drawing heavily from An Offer From a Gentleman. Iconic moments like the masquerade ball, “my cottage” scenes, and the beloved lake sequence will feature prominently. Additionally, the season will explore Regency-era class divisions, as Sophie comes from a lower social standing than Benedict and the Bridgertons. The eight-episode season has no set premiere date yet.

Lawsuit accusing Jay Z and Diddy of sexually assaulting a minor has been dropped.
A civil lawsuit accusing Sean “Diddy” Combs and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2000 was dismissed on Friday. The plaintiff’s attorney voluntarily dropped the case with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. Filed in October 2024 and later amended to include Carter, the lawsuit alleged the assault occurred at an after-party following the Video Music Awards. The plaintiff acknowledged inconsistencies in her account but maintained her claims. Both Carter and Combs denied the allegations, and their legal teams said the dismissal proves the case was baseless. Carter called the lawsuit “frivolous and fictitious,” emphasizing the toll it took on his family. Combs’ lawyers criticized the plaintiff’s attorney, claiming his cases lack merit. While many lawsuits against Combs have collapsed due to anonymity issues, he remains in custody on federal sex-trafficking charges, which he continues to deny. His legal team vows to fight all accusations.

Sophie Thatcher set to reportedly star in the season 2 of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Yellowjackets’ star, Sophie Thatcher is in negotiations to star alongside Mark Eydelshteyn in Season 2 of Mr. & Mrs. Smith on Prime Video, according to sources. If her deal closes, the pair will portray the titular characters, John and Jane Smith. Initially, Grammy-winning artist Billie Eilish was considered for the role of Jane, but her touring schedule conflicted with the project. Amazon MGM Studios, which co-produces the series with New Regency, sought actors in their 20s for the roles in Season 2, following a cliffhanger ending in Season 1, where John and Jane were left in a gunfight, unsure of their fate. The new characters will be different from those played by Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, though the possibility remains for their return, either in full or in some capacity. Sloane returns as showrunner and executive producer for the upcoming season, with Glover also returning as an executive producer.
