Ajax finally wins first game in all competitions since August.
Ajax is witnessing its worst start to a season in its history, currently fifteenth in the Eredivisie table and fourth in the Europa League Group B. After a tumultuous start, Ajax has finally won its first game in all competitions since August, enduring a 10 game winless streak across this period. In the clash against FC Volendam on Thursday, the team seemed poised to make a statement. Goals from Steven Bergwijn and Chuba Akpom were enough to hand them their first victory in over three months. Upon sacking Maurice Steijn, the Eredivisie giant appointed John van’t Schip as the interim coach and there has been some immediate changes in the team’s play pattern. Ajax will be looking to build on this win, in a bid to turn its season around.
