Nigerian National Basketball team has had a phenomenal run at the 2023 Afrobasket tournament. After a 31 point blowout win in the semifinals against Rwanda, D’Tigress have again defeated Senegal 84-74 in an intense Afrobasket final. With a thrilling fourth quarter performance, Nigeria’s D’Tigress have now been crowned Afrobasket’s champions for a fourth consecutive time, matching Senegal’s four consecutive champions record. Huge credits must be given to the team for overcoming despite the numerous on and off court hurdles.

New twist emerge in the Jonathan Majors’ assault case trial.
Popular Hollywood actor, Jonathan Majors has been under fire since being arrested on charges of strangulation, assault and harassment earlier in March. The domestic violence trial, which was slated to continue on August 4 has now been delayed until September, after the prosecutors asked for more time to put together their evidences. However, new information has suggested that Majors’ accuser has now fled the country, with the NYPD looking to also charge her with assault. Majors’ has lost greatly as a result of these allegations and it will be interesting to see where the case leads.

Nigerian defender, Calvin Bassey left Ajax for the premier league side, Fulham this summer, after an unremarkable year at the Eredivisie league. The defender found it immensely difficult to establish his place in the Ajax team and will be looking to change his fortune with a new challenge in a new environment.
