Euphoria star, Sydney Sweeney is set to star in and produce I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl at Warner Bros. through her company, Fifty-Fifty Films. Based on a Reddit short story by Joe Cote, the thriller follows a drifter who impersonates a missing girl to deceive a family, only to realize her grave mistake. Oscar-winning screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, Dune) is adapting the story, with Vertigo’s Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, and Trevor Engelson among the producers. Sweeney continues to expand her producing career. She executive-produced Sony’s hit rom-com Anyone But You and horror film Immaculate, and is an EP on Paul Feig’s The Housemaid, premiering Christmas Day. Additionally, she stars in and produces Scandalous!, portraying Kim Novak in Colman Domingo’s directorial debut, and leads a biopic on female boxer Christy Martin. Up next, Sweeney appears in Apple’s Echo Valley alongside Julianne Moore and Kyle MacLachlan, further cementing her status as a Hollywood powerhouse.

Abbott Elementary star, Quinta Brunson has filed for divorce from her husband, Kevin Anik, after three years of marriage. The actress and creator submitted the paperwork in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday. The couple, who have no children, previously signed an agreement outlining asset division, making the process relatively straightforward and private. Brunson and Anik dated for several years before marrying in October 2021 but kept their relationship largely out of the public eye. She publicly acknowledged him during her Emmy wins, first in 2022 when she called him “the most supportive man I’ve ever known” while accepting an award for writing Abbott Elementary, and again in September when she won Best Comedy Actress. Regé-Jean Page to star and produce a new adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo.
Bridgerton star, Regé-Jean Page is set to star in and produce a new adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo from independent studio Department M. Page will produce through his A Mighty Stranger banner alongside Emily Brown, Mike Larocca, Michael Schaefer, and Youtchi von Lintel. Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking) is attached to write the screenplay. Based on Alexandre Dumas’ 1845 novel, the film follows a young sailor who, after being wrongly imprisoned for treason, escapes and seeks revenge against those who betrayed him, ultimately rising to power as the Count of Monte Cristo. This marks yet another adaptation of the classic tale, following a 2024 version. Page, best known for his breakout role as Simon Basset in Bridgerton, has since taken on various film roles, including The Gray Man. His latest project offers another opportunity to showcase his leading-man charisma in a thrilling, revenge-driven narrative.

The Jason Bourne franchise set to sell its rights to another studio.
Universal has lost the rights to the Jason Bourne franchise, which is now being shopped to other studios. Skydance, Apple, and Netflix have reportedly met with the Robert Ludlum estate to discuss acquiring the property. Last year, Edward Berger was rumoured to direct a new instalment titled The Bourne Dilemma, with Damon reprising his role. However, the project stalled, and Berger is no longer attached. With a global box office total of $1.64 billion, Bourne’s early films set the standard for modern action, though later instalments struggled to maintain momentum. If the Ludlum estate is open to a streaming release, Netflix may outbid competitors to secure the rights.
