Netflix offices in France and The Netherlands raided for alleged tax fraud.
French and Dutch authorities recently searched Netflix’s offices in Paris and Amsterdam as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged tax fraud, according to a French judicial source. The inquiry, initiated in November 2022 by France’s financial crime unit PNF, focuses on potential discrepancies in Netflix’s reported turnover and its tax contributions in France. A report from La Lettre suggested that from 2019 to 2020, Netflix’s French unit paid less than one million euros in corporate taxes by routing revenue through a separate entity in the Netherlands—a practice the company reportedly ceased in 2021. Netflix’s revenue in France subsequently rose to 1.2 billion euros in 2021 from 47 million the previous year. While neither Netflix’s representatives nor Dutch prosecutors provided comments, the investigation underscores the challenges faced by international tech firms in aligning with European tax regulations.

Ryan Reynolds to collaborate with Jackman and Levy for a new non-Marvel film.
Deadpool star, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are teaming up again, this time outside the Marvel universe, in a new project directed by Shawn Levy. Reynolds recently shared on the Variety Awards Circuit Podcast that he’s dedicating the year to writing this film, saying, “I’m writing a movie for myself, Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy] to do that is not Marvel.” While plot details remain under wraps, Reynolds is excited about the new direction, though it’s still unknown if the project has studio backing. This film will mark Reynolds and Levy’s third collaboration, following the box office successes of Free Guy and The Adam Project, both of which showcased Reynolds’ comedic style. The project comes as Reynolds and Jackman celebrate the blockbuster success of Deadpool & Wolverine, which has set records with over $636 million in domestic revenue, making it the top-grossing R-rated film in history.

Netflix has renewed Outer Banks for its fifth and final season.
The Outer Banks set for a fifth and final season, with the announcement arriving just before the second half of Season 4 debuts on Nov. 7. Series creators and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke revealed the news in a heartfelt message to fans, sharing that their inspiration began in 2017 after seeing a photo of teenagers on a beach at dusk. “Seven years ago, it seemed impossible that we would get to tell the full five-season story,” they wrote. The creators said the fourth season, which ends with a feature-length episode, was both challenging and rewarding to produce. “With a little sadness, but also excitement…we’re turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home,” they added. Outer Banks has been a huge success for Netflix, with Season 4 part one in the Top 10 for three consecutive weeks.
