James Gunn, co-chief of DC Studios, announced Friday that Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2, starring Robert Pattinson, has been delayed again. Originally set for release on October 2, 2026, the film is now scheduled to debut on October 1, 2027. Gunn explained on Threads that the delay stems from Reeves’ commitment to crafting the perfect script. “The only reason for the delay is there isn’t a full script,” Gunn wrote. “Matt is dedicated to making the best film possible, and writing can’t be rushed.” Reeves’ sequel to his acclaimed 2022 film has faced multiple delays since its 2022 announcement. Once the script is finalized, the production process will require roughly two years for pre-production, filming, and post-production. The Argentine-British actress died of cancer at home on December 27, surrounded by loved ones, as confirmed by her family on Instagram.
