Wizkid announces forthcoming album will be named after his mother, “Morayo”.

Global superstar, Wizkid is set to release his sixth studio album, two years after the highly dubbed More Love, Less Ego. In a series of rants, where he claimed to no longer be an Afrobeats artist, he revealed that his next album which will be released very soon, will be named after his deceased mother, “Morayo”. He further warned that artists who are stuck in his “pakuromo” era should not bother listening to the new album. Whilst he has received huge backlash on social media for denouncing the Afrobeats genre, many Nigerians are looking forward to the upcoming album.

Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy makes a shocking claim about music streaming in Africa.

African music has received global recognition over the years, with hit songs like “Essence”, “Calm Down” and “Love Nwantiti” emerging from the continent. Despite this global movement of the genre, artists still receive crumbs. The Managing Director of Spotify, Sub-Saharan Africa, Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy has just revealed that artists from countries like Belgium and Chile still receive more streaming income than the whole of Africa due to issues concerning digitalization and ownership which are still major problems in the Afrobeats genre.

Oxlade reveals losing huge endorsements after his leaked sex tape.

Nigerian vocalist and songwriter, Oxlade went through hell as he is involved in a leaked sex tape with an unidentified lady in early 2022. Rising through these ruins like a Phoenix, the “Ku Lo Sa” crooner is back to releasing hit songs. However, speaking about the dark period, Oxlade revealed on the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast that he lost over ₦400,000,000 in endorsement deals during this period and had to be admitted into rehab for over four months. It is interesting how he has managed to turn his fortunes around.

Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Vultures 2” to be released on May 3rd.

The success of Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s joint album, “Vultures Vol. 1” has enjoyed astronomical success, spending two weeks on top of the Billboard 200 albums chart and hit song, “Carnival” also being one of the most successful songs released this year. In an update from Kanye’s alleged DM to a fan account, it has been reported that volume 2 will be released later on May 3. The album was initially scheduled to be released on March 15 but conversations of a potential exclusive release on Ye’s website alone caused the album’s pushback. There has however been no official confirmation of May 3rd as the album’s release date.
