Smallville sequel is reportedly off the table from happening at the moment.
Nearly 15 years after Smallville concluded, the animated continuation will have to wait longer than promised. Co-creator Alfred Gough revealed on the Talk Ville podcast with stars Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum that Warner Bros. is currently focused on James Gunn’s Superman reboot, delaying any progress on the animated follow-up. Gough noted that regime changes at studios often impact projects in development, and with DC Studios undergoing major shifts under Gunn and Peter Safran, Smallville’s return is not a priority. However, he remains hopeful, pointing out that reboots, like Hulu’s planned revival of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, continue to surface. Rosenbaum previously teased the project, confirming that he, Welling, and the original creators were involved and eager to pitch it when the time was right. For now, Smallville fans will have to be patient, but the possibility of a revival remains open for the future.
The ‘SMALLVILLE’ sequel series is currently off the table from happening.
“I think the fact that they are in the process of rebooting Superman again, kind of unfortunately, I think, keeps our thing off the table for a bit”
