Igbo culture hugely represented in Unilag Igbo Student Union Cultural Day.
Our lives are overtly shaped by the cultural notions that we live by. However, in modern times, the impact of culture has been largely ignored, with only a few still propagating these cultural ideas. With Nigeria as a melting pot of different cultural heritages, there has been a significant need to promote these cultural nuances and one of the events enhancing the promotion is the Igbo cultural day, enacted by Unilag Igbo students and further sponsored by the Voice of the East. This event witnessed a huge representation of the Igbo culture, from the music, dances, food and fashion. Perhaps, events like this are important to further promote our cultural heritages.

Wizkid set to sell out Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
This year, Afrobeats is stamping its place as one of the biggest global sounds. Nigerian Afrobeats artistes especially, are taking huge strides, touching the biggest stages in the world, selling out arenas and topping global charts. The most fascinating stride yet has been the stadium tours. Burna Boy has just completed his Europe/America Love Damini Stadium tour and now, Wizkid is about to shut down the iconic Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Now, more than ever, the Afrobeats genre is closer to dominating the global stage as the biggest music genre and maybe this stride is just the final piece of the puzzle.

Simi performs in New Orleans before joining Alicia Keys on tour.
One of Nigeria’s biggest female artistes, Simi performed to a packed crowd at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. She is now set to join Grammy award winner, Alicia Keys on her “Keys to the Summer” tour, as a guest performer. This is a huge positive in the trajectory of the artiste, as this opportunity will further introduce her to new music markets across the world. With her band, there is no iota of doubt that she will continue to thrill the audience with superb performances.

Carterefe and Berri Tiga tease new music on TikTok.
Although famous in the skip scene, Carterefe was introduced with Berri Tiga to the music industry with the success of their hit single, Machala. Despite the little rigmarole that emerged post this single, the duo have gone on to top Nigeria’s streaming charts, dropping other songs in the process. They have now teased a new song on TikTok. Fans have however noted their reservations as to the cloning of Asake and Seyi Vibez’s style. Perhaps, a little inspiration from other great artistes is in no way a bad thing.
@carterefe 🔥🔥🔥 Use this sound ❤️🦅
