With Vanessa Bryant closing in on a Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) relationship with Nike, it has just been announced that 6 schools including, LSU, Kentucky, Duke, Oregon, UConn and USC will partner the Mamba and Mambacita sports foundation for the coming season. As a result, the players from these six schools will be wearing the Kobe and Gigi Bryant signature shoes for the 2023-2024 season. This move definitely honors the legacy and memories of the Basketball legend and his daughter, who tragically passed away in 2020.

Tribunal throws out Atiku and Obi’s petitions, upholds Pres. Tinubu’s victory.

Nigerian election was allegedly plagued by numerous electoral irregularities and despite APC led Bola Ahmed Tinubu being announced as the country’s president. PDP’s Abubakar Atiku and LP’s Peter Obi decided to contest this result at the tribunal. However, after months of debating, the cases have finally come to an end, with the tribunal throwing out the case against Tinubu’s legality to contest. Also, the tribunal insisted that LP and Peter Obi failed to ascertain the number of voters suppression. It is unclear yet, maybe the case will be appealed in the Supreme Court.

Los Angeles Lakers has now added Christian Wood to its roster.

After an impressive Western conference run, L.A. Lakers are seemingly working on building a more efficient and competitive team around Lebron James and Anthony Davies. Recall they lost the Western conference finals against Nuggets after a rather shaky regular season. The addition of Christian Wood to the roster now brings the number of new additions to nine. The former Dallas Maverick Forward/Center has agreed a two years contract in NBA free agency with L.A. lakers.

University of Lagos allegedly teargases students amidst protest.

Amidst the hard economic circumstances, federal tertiary institutions have taken a move to massively increase their school fees, in a bid to curb the recurring ASUU strike. Weeks ago, news about a hundred percent tuition fee hike for the University of Lagos’ students made rounds and despite the school denying this report, the students decided to carry on with a peaceful protest against the huge increment. The peaceful protest, which held around the school area, was however met with great violence as security forces allegedly tear-gassed protesting students. The school is yet to release any statement on this incident.
