Netflix cancels Prince nine-hour documentary amid estate dispute.
Netflix has scrapped the release of a six-part Prince documentary directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Ezra Edelman. Originally planned with unprecedented access to Prince’s archives, the project was halted following disputes between Netflix and the late musician’s estate. After Prince’s passing in 2016, Edelman secured a multimillion-dollar deal to direct the documentary, maintaining creative control. However, tensions arose when an early nine-hour cut featured allegations from Prince’s ex-partners, including claims of physical and emotional abuse. In 2022, following a change in estate management, Edelman was denied access to The Vault. The estate later demanded edits, citing factual inaccuracies and sensationalized content. Netflix confirmed its withdrawal, stating that the estate would develop its own documentary using exclusive archival material. The estate also celebrated the decision, posting “The vault has been freed” on social media. Prince died in 2016 from an accidental fentanyl overdose, leaving behind a complex legacy.

Wu-Tang Clan announces a new project for Record Store Day 2025.
Legendary hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan has announced their upcoming album, Black Samson, The Bastard Swordsman, set for release on Record Store Day, April 12, 2025. This marks their first full-length project since The Saga Continues in 2017 and features guest appearances from Kool G Rap, Kurupt, and Benny The Butcher. All nine surviving Wu-Tang members—Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Cappadonna, U-God, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, GZA, and RZA—contribute to the 12-track album, which is entirely produced by Mathematics. Notably, the project does not include beats from RZA. Speaking to Variety, Mathematics explained the album’s inspiration, citing 1970s Blaxploitation films such as Black Samson, Black Caesar, and Super Fly. The announcement has generated excitement among hip-hop fans, eager for new music from the iconic group. With its cinematic influences and all-star lineup, Black Samson, The Bastard Swordsman is set to be a major moment in rap history.

Oscar winning actress, Natalie Portman is set to lead the upcoming romantic comedy Good Sex, written and directed by Golden Globe winner Lena Dunham (Girls). Portman will portray Ally, a successful couples’ therapist nearing 40, who finds herself navigating New York City’s dating scene after ending a decade-long relationship.
