Undiscovered music composed by Mozart found in a German library.

A previously unknown piece likely composed by a teenage Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was recently discovered at a library in Leipzig, Germany. The 12-minute work, titled Ganz kleine Nachtmusik, features seven miniature movements for a string trio and is believed to have been written in the mid-to-late 1760s. Although unsigned and not in Mozart’s handwriting, it is thought to be a copy made around 1780. Researchers found the manuscript while updating the Köchel Catalog, the official archive of Mozart’s works, which has existed for over 160 years. The latest edition, the first since 1964, took more than 10 years to compile. Ulrich Leisinger, head of research at the International Mozarteum Foundation, called the piece an important addition to the understanding of Mozart’s music.
