This effort will ensure the improvement of energy efficiency and advocate for environmentally sustainable cooling options. On May 15, 2024, Mr. Abdullahi announced that a workshop for stakeholders had begun the review process of the project. He emphasized the importance of this review in helping Nigeria achieve its climate goals and improve access to sustainable energy. He believes that a vital aspect of the project involves expanding the use of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly cooling systems in Nigeria’s revision of its nationally determined contribution.

Their decisions will aid in Nigeria’s efforts to fight against climate change.

More so, this project has been the focus of dedicated efforts by these organizations. They are working together to see to the enhancement of energy efficiency and support Eco-friendly cooling options in order to make a meaningful impact on the environmental objectives of Nigeria and access to sustainable energy. He stated that a vital element of the project involves expanding the use of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly cooling systems in the revised national plan of action for Nigeria.

He emphasized the importance of the committee approaching their discussions with great care, knowledge, and teamwork. He mentioned that their decisions will not only impact national regulations but also aid in Nigeria’s efforts to fight against Climate Change on a global scale. The important task of overseeing this review falls on the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON). They make use of a precise process of establishing standards, led by SON and assisted by the technical knowledge of the Nigeria National Committee of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

Prioritizing energy efficiency is a crucial national priority.

Through these establishing standards, their standards are made strong, thorough, and in line with global standards, he further explained. Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, the Director-General of SON, also emphasized the importance of preparing for the future in order for the country to actively engage in International Trade on both continental and global levels. His argument was that the implementation of suitable energy guidelines would play a significant role in the worldwide initiatives to address climate change.
