Kylian Mbappé scores brace as Real Madrid gets back to winning ways.

New Real Madrid star, Kylian Mbappé marked his LaLiga debut with a decisive performance, scoring twice in Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Real Betis. After a slow start to the season, with no goals in the first three league matches and a draw against Mallorca and Las Palmas, Mbappé finally delivered. Despite Madrid’s dominance in the first half, they couldn’t break through. Vinicius came close with a shot that hit the post, and Mbappé missed the rebound, though an offside flag spared him. The breakthrough came in the 67th minute when Mbappé, assisted by Federico Valverde, calmly finished past Rui Silva, securing a much-needed victory for the champions. This win is a significant boost for Madrid as they look to stabilize their domestic form.

Willian flies to Athens to facilitate Olympiacos free agency move.

Former Fulham winger Willian is set to travel to Athens tonight to discuss a potential move to Olympiacos, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The Brazilian, who left Fulham this summer, is exploring options as a free agent after a strong season with the London club. At 36, Willian scored ten goals and provided seven assists in 67 appearances for Fulham over two seasons following his transfer from Corinthians in September 2022. Despite Fulham’s interest in extending his stay, Willian opted not to renew his contract. Fulham has since signed Ryan Sessegnon, Emile Smith Rowe, Jorge Cuenca, Sander Berge, and Joachim Andersen, with Reiss Nelson joining on loan. The team has started the 2024-25 season with a win, a draw, and a loss, and advanced to the Carabao Cup third round.

Luiz Dias’ brace helps Liverpool dismantle Manchester United.

Liverpool surged to the top of the Premier League with a dominant 3-0 victory over Manchester United, thanks to a Luis Diaz brace and a stylish Mohamed Salah finish. The match started controversially when a seventh-minute goal by Trent Alexander-Arnold was disallowed due to Salah’s offside position. However, Diaz scored twice in quick succession, in the 35th and 42nd minutes, with both goals assisted by Salah, giving Liverpool a commanding lead at halftime. Salah further punished Manchester United by finishing Dominik Szoboszlai’s pass in the 56th minute. Liverpool could have won by a larger margin, and now stand level on points with Manchester City, having secured three wins from three matches under Arne Slot.
