Boston Celtics’ star, Jayson Tatum has just signed a $315 million, 5-year supermax extension with the franchise. This contract is the largest in NBA history and includes a player option and Trade kicker. Tatum, drafted as the third overall pick in 2017, has transformed into one of the league’s best two-way players. He led the Celtics to its 18th NBA championship, averaging 22.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.2 assists in 5 games against the Dallas Mavericks. Along with Jaylen Brown’s $285 million supermax contract, the Boston Celtics now boasts of the two biggest contracts in NBA history.

Late goal powers France to Euro 2024 quarter final over Belgium.
France edged slightly over Belgium on Monday to secure their qualification to the quarter final. Despite dominating the game, France was unable to find a breakthrough and looked set to go into overtime until Kolo Muani’s wide shot deflected off Jan Vertonghen to give France the lead in the 85th minute and eventually sent the 2018 World Cup winners to the last eight of the tournament. Own goals have been France’s biggest winner in this tournament as they are yet to score from open play. They will be hoping to change the tide as they face Portugal on Friday.

Klay Thompson reaches agreement to join the Dallas Mavericks.
After going into free agency, Klay Thompson has agreed to a 3-year, $50 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks, putting an end to his historic 13-year run with the Golden State Warriors. According to reports, the 4-time NBA champion felt largely disrespected by the franchise and this influenced his decision to leave. The splash brother’s move was deeply influenced by the Mavericks’ chances of competing for the Championship. This deal will see the Charlotte Hornets get the Dallas Mavericks’ s guard, Josh Green and two 2nd round picks to the Warriors.

Diogo Costa emerges hero as Portugal defeats Slovenia on penalties.
Portugal defeated Slovenia 3-0 on penalties, thanks to Diogo Costa’s brilliant display. In a highly dominant match, Portugal were unable to break through Slovenia’s defence. Portugal looked to have found a breakthrough in the extra time when Diogo Jota was fouled inside Slovenia’s box but Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty kick was parried by Jan Oblak. In the penalty shootout, Portugal’s goalkeeper stepped up, saving all three of Slovenia’s penalties while Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva all converted their kicks. Portugal will face France in the quarter final.

Paul Pogba optimistic about still playing professional football.
Months ago, Paul Pogba was banned from playing football professionally for 4 years after testing positive for substance use. To many fans and critics, this signalled the end of his career and in a recent interview, the former Manchester United midfielder also affirmed that he was finished and dead. However, Pogba just built new rays of hope in regards to his footballing career. He revealed to Sky Sport that he was really optimistic about reviving his career. He said, “I’m still a football player. Don’t look at that stuff saying I’m retiring… I wanna fight for my career, I’m optimistic.”
