News on Everton’s takeover, Liverpool, Adrian Rabiot, Dani Olmo and Smith-Rowe.

The Friedkin Group’s Everton takeover negotiations called off.

The potential takeover of Everton by the Friedkin Group has fallen through. The Friedkin Group, which owns Italian side Roma, had been in exclusive negotiations to buy a 94.1 percent stake in the club from Farhad Moshiri’s Blue Heaven Holdings. However, the talks collapsed as both parties failed to reach an agreement. Despite this, Everton stated that the Friedkin Group would continue to be a lender to the club, having played a role in the development of Everton’s new stadium. Farhad Moshiri had entered into exclusive negotiations last month, but the deal will not proceed.

Liverpool faced a 1-0 defeat to Preston North End in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Friday. The game’s decisive moment came from former Manchester United winger Robbie Brady, who seized on a misplaced Liverpool pass and scored from a 40-yard lob against goalkeeper Vítězslav Jaroš. Although the match held no competitive significance, it was Arne Slot’s first opportunity to observe his squad in action. Liverpool fielded 25 players, including starts for Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, Jarell Quansah, Kostas Tsimikas, and Conor Bradley. Wataru Endō replaced Szoboszlai after 33 minutes. Liverpool’s pre-season continues next week against Real Betis, followed by matches against Arsenal and Manchester United.
