Edinson Cavani announces retirement from international football.
Uruguayan striker, Edinson Cavani has disclosed his decision to retire from international football. The 37 year-old enjoyed a 14-year international career span, scoring 58 goals in 136 appearances for Uruguay as the 2nd all time scorer and 3rd most capped player. The Boca Junior player took to Social Media to make this announcement. He wrote, “ I have been and will always be blessed to have pulled on this shirt to represent what I love most in the world, my country. Today, I’ve decided to retire, but I’ll always follow you with my heart pounding, just like when I played in that beautiful shirt.” Cavani played in four World Cup tournaments and won the Copa America in 2011.
