Jamal Musiala signs a new long-term deal with Bayern Munich.
After the recent renewal of Neuer and Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich have secured the future of one of their key players, with Jamal Musiala signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2030. The 21-year-old midfielder, who broke into Bayern’s first team at just 17, has since become a vital player for both club and country. Although negotiations had been progressing well since late last year, reaching a final agreement took time. Musiala, previously linked with Manchester City, has made 193 appearances for Bayern, scoring 58 goals and providing 38 assists. Last season, he was the team’s second-highest scorer with 13 goals, behind Harry Kane’s 44. With four Bundesliga titles and five other major trophies to his name, Musiala is now one of Bayern’s top earners at £20.8 million per year. Expressing his joy, he called Bayern his home and believes the club can achieve great things in the years ahead.

Guardiola confirms Akanji will be sidelined for 10 weeks due to a muscle injury.
Manchester City defender, Manuel Akanji is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being ruled out for up to 10 weeks due to a muscle injury. The 29-year-old sustained the issue during City’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid, forcing him off at halftime. Manager Pep Guardiola later confirmed that Akanji required surgery after medical assessments diagnosed an abductor problem. Speaking ahead of City’s Premier League clash with Newcastle, Guardiola stated, “I think it is the abductor—eight to 10 weeks out.” This timeline means Akanji is unlikely to return before April, ruling him out of key matches against Newcastle, Madrid, and Liverpool. With his absence weakening City’s defensive options, recent signings Abdukodir Khusanov and Brazilian prospect Vitor Reis may now see increased involvement. Guardiola will need to adjust his squad as they navigate a crucial period without one of their key defensive assets.

Minteh scores a brace as Brighton defeats Chelsea for the second time this week.
Chelsea’s chances of securing a top-four finish suffered a major blow after a 3-0 defeat to Brighton, marking their second loss to the Seagulls in a week. The Blues struggled in the first half, showing glimpses of attacking intent but failing to register a shot on target. Defensively, they were vulnerable, and Brighton soon capitalized. Kaoru Mitoma opened the scoring in the 27th minute, expertly controlling a long pass from goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen before cutting inside and finishing past Filip Jorgensen. Eleven minutes later, Yankuba Minteh doubled Brighton’s lead after a deflected cross fell to Danny Welbeck, who set him up to score. Chelsea showed little fight in the second half, and Brighton sealed the win in the 63rd minute when Minteh netted his second. The hosts could have scored more, with Joel Veltman hitting the post. Once considered title contenders, Chelsea now face an uphill battle for Champions League qualification.
