Ruud van Nistelrooy leaves Man United after a near-perfect stint as interim coach.

Manchester United has announced the departure of interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy following the appointment of Rúben Amorim as the club’s permanent manager on Monday. Van Nistelrooy, a club legend and former Netherlands international, took charge for four matches after Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, leading the team to three wins and a draw, with United scoring 11 goals under his guidance. The club’s statement praised Van Nistelrooy, affirming he would “always be welcome at Old Trafford.” In addition to Van Nistelrooy, several of ten Hag’s former backroom staff, including René Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel, have also exited. A former fan favorite, Van Nistelrooy scored 150 goals in 219 appearances for United over five years. He most recently managed PSV Eindhoven before leaving last season due to concerns about support from the club’s management.
