CANEX 2024 to Celebrate the African Culture

Famous Athletes Imane Khelif & Valentine Ozigbo will be in attendance.

African brilliance in sports, entertainment, and Culture will be celebrated at the October 16th CANEX 2024 event. Along with notable athletes from Nigeria like Valentine Ozigbo, Africa Lead for the Freestyle Football Championship and Director of the World Freestyle Football Association, is Imane Khelif, a professional boxer and Olympic gold medallist from Algeria. A Freestyle Football Championship that will showcase the prowess of Africa’s top freestyle football players is one of the many events planned for the occasion. African food demonstrations by famous chef, Chef Stone, and performances by music phenomenon Qing Madi will further highlight Nigeria’s rich cultural legacy.

Ndidi Nwuneli, the founder of African Food Changemakers, and Hannatu Musa Musawa, the minister of art, culture, and the Creative Economy in Nigeria, are among the keynote speakers. Additionally, Dr. Ali Nuhu, Managing Director of Nigeria Film Corporation, and Pops Mensah-Bonsu, President of New York Knicks Minor League Operations, will make contributions. A number of the sessions will centre around various facets of African culture and business. These include “Globalised Strategies,” which addresses the protection of intellectual property rights, “United in Culture,” which addresses the common African Cultural Heritage and prosperity, and “Collective Disruption,” which focusses on the Fashion and Textile industries.

Over 200 presenters took part in CANEX 2021 at South Africa.

The “Catalysing African Renaissance” session will also look at how development, entertainment, and sports interact to spur growth. The culmination of the occasion will feature CANEX Shorts Screenings, which will showcase the creations of up-and-coming filmmakers. In order to encourage relationships and cooperation between the creative sectors in Africa, CANEX (Creative Africa Nexus) was founded. Through athletics, entertainment, fashion, and intellectual property, it seeks to promote economic progress while showcasing the continent’s rich cultural variety. CANEX, which is hosted by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), is a component of larger initiatives to assist Africa’s creative sector.

Since its initial introduction at the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in 2018, the event has expanded to garner international attention, promoting collaborations and exhibiting African talent in a range of industries. Leaders, artists, financiers, and business specialists have all successfully convened for past editions to talk about Africa’s creative potential and its place in the global economy. Over 200 presenters took part in CANEX 2021, which was hosted in Durban, South Africa, and drew thousands of attendees in person and electronically.

Olympic gold medallist and professional boxer from Algeria, Imane Khelif, is a prominent figure at CANEX 2024. Africa’s shared history and cultural heritage can be used to promote social and economic development, as will be explored in sessions like “United in Culture: Prosperity through Shared Cultural Heritage.” It is probable that topics like art, tourism, and cultural diplomacy will be discussed at this session. “Collective Disruption: Strengthening the Fashion and Textile Ecosystem” will address issues with supply chains, sustainability, and intellectual property rights in order to highlight how Africa may improve its standing in the international fashion market.

“Globalised Strategies for Strengthening Intellectual Property Rights Protection,” a crucial session, will delve into the laws and regulations required to safeguard African inventions and artistic creations internationally. “Catalysing African Renaissance: The Confluence of Sports, Entertainment, and Development,” on the other hand, will examine how sports and entertainment can be incorporated into national development plans to promote Economic Growth and youth empowerment. In addition to giving attendees a thorough understanding of Africa’s artistic and cultural landscape, CANEX 2024 offers a variety of panel discussions, performances, and competitions that foster meaningful participation and teamwork.
