Since its founding in 2023, the Bet9ja Foundation has had a significant influence on Nigerian communities, carrying out over 132 projects in 29 states with investments totalling more than ₦500 million. Over 5,000 young Nigerians have benefited from the Foundation’s efforts, which include the Graduate Employability and Enterprise Summit, by receiving the information and skills necessary to succeed in a competitive employment market. For example, Chika Okafor, a graduate who attended the Summit, talked about how the training helped him land a job at a top software company.
“The abilities I acquired at the Summit were essential to getting hired,” he stated. I now have the courage to go after chances I wouldn’t have previously because of the training I received on digital technologies and entrepreneurial thinking. Regarding healthcare, the Foundation’s medical outreach initiatives have given impoverished areas access to life-saving procedures and supplies. An instance of this can be found in Kaduna State, where a local clinic received a Donation of cutting-edge dialysis machines, greatly enhancing the patients’ access to care for renal illness.
Nigeria has serious issues with digital literacy.
Aisha Musa, one of the beneficiaries, shared her story: “I had to travel great distances for treatment prior to the donation.” I can now get the care I need closer to home, which has made taking care of my health much simpler. The Foundation’s initiatives to reduce the digital gap have had a significant influence in addition to healthcare. Like many underdeveloped countries, Nigeria has serious issues with digital literacy, particularly with regard to its youth. Only roughly 38% of Nigerians have access to the internet, and there is still a significant skills gap, according to the World Bank.
Programs for Digital Literacy offered by the Bet9ja Foundation have been crucial in closing this gap. Over 2,000 young people in Lagos, for instance, have received training in digital marketing, coding, and other critical skills in a tech hub built by the Foundation. With millions of employment predicted to be created in the next several decades, it is anticipated that these initiatives will strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global digital economy. One further essential component of the Foundation’s mission is sustainable development. The Foundation has put in solar-powered Boreholes in rural areas where people’s access to potable water is a constant problem, giving over 10,000 people consistent access to drinking water.
Future plans call for establishment of a national digital literacy program.
This program not only enhances Public Health but also frees up women’s and children’s time to concentrate on their Education and other constructive pursuits. The Bet9ja Foundation intends to increase its activities in the future with an emphasis on increasing its effect. Future plans call for the establishment of a national digital Literacy program with the goal of teaching 100,000 adolescents by 2025, the extension of the Graduate Employability and Enterprise Summit to additional states, and the start of a fresh effort to fight hunger in Northern Nigeria.
To increase food security, this project will plant community gardens and provide supplements that are high in nutrients. The Foundation is working to address a wide range of intricate issues. Nigeria’s concerningly high youth Unemployment rate—roughly 53 percent—and the dearth of basic Infrastructure in many rural areas persist. For example, access to clean water is still a major problem in many areas of the nation; according to UNICEF, 70 million Nigerians do not have access to safe drinking water.

The Foundation’s overarching goals of improving lives, strengthening communities, and protecting the environment include these initiatives. The Marketing and Communications Manager, Omotola Oronti, states that “our work is far from over.” We’re determined to improve the lives of Nigerians by reaching out to even more communities.
