Negotiations between Southampton and Kyle Walker-Peters falls through.

Southampton faces a major setback in their efforts to retain Kyle Walker-Peters beyond the current season. The 27-year-old defender has started all four Premier League games under manager Russell Martin, despite Southampton’s struggles, which see them sitting 19th in the table. With the arrival of Yukinari Sugawara, Walker-Peters has been playing on the left side of defense this season. Since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2020, he has made 161 appearances for the club, scoring six goals. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, contract talks between Southampton and Walker-Peters have stalled, with the full-back rejecting an offer made in August. With his contract expiring in summer 2025, the possibility of Walker-Peters leaving on a free transfer is growing, making him a potential target for other Premier League clubs.

Man United fans given an injury boost as Malacia returns to team training.

Tyrell Malacia has made progress in his injury recovery, joining some first-team drills at Manchester United after over a year on the sidelines. Malacia, 25, missed the entire previous season and pre-season, having last played in May 2023. Recent reports indicated that he was close to returning to training, and his teammates formed a tunnel to cheer him on as he stepped onto the pitch. Although Manchester United has confirmed that Malacia will be cautious in his reintegration into Erik ten Hag’s squad, his return is a positive development for the team. This comeback offers a much-needed boost as United navigates a challenging period.

İlkay Gündoğan breaks silence on his short stint with Barcelona.

Former Barcelona star İlkay Gündoğan has reflected on his final days in Catalonia before his surprise return to Manchester City. Gündoğan’s move back to City in the closing days of the August transfer window came after weeks of speculation about his future. Despite having 12 months left on his Barcelona contract, the English champions made a bold move to bring him back, which Barcelona accepted due to their financial challenges. In an interview with Daily Mail, Gündoğan expressed no regrets but acknowledged that circumstances in Barcelona could have been different. “It was a tough but fantastic experience. I fulfilled a childhood dream playing for Barcelona,” he said. Gündoğan also pointed out that despite not winning a trophy, Barcelona finished the season with 85 points, only three less than when they won La Liga the previous year.

Enzo Maresca hands Ben Chilwell a lifeline to his Chelsea career.

Ben Chilwell was part of Chelsea’s so-called ‘bomb squad’ over the summer, where several players were excluded from the main group after being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Enzo Maresca. Chilwell was informed early in the pre-season that he had no future at Chelsea and was advised to find a new club. However, the former Leicester City star struggled to attract interest due to his high wages and injury history. A potential Loan move to Turkey also fell through, leaving Chelsea to reintegrate him into the squad in hopes of a January transfer. Chilwell was eventually included in Chelsea’s 25-man Premier League squad, though Maresca stated his matchday involvement would be assessed “game after game.” Chilwell did not feature in Chelsea’s match against West Ham but may have a chance in their upcoming Carabao Cup tie against Barrow.
