In a move toward economic reform, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has commended the development of the Abuja Industrial Park by the Zeberced Group as a major improvement for economic growth. During his recent visit to the Idu Industrial Zone in Abuja, Wike emphasised the project’s potential to create 40,000 jobs and improve the national Economy once fully operational. He was excited during his visit to the zone, where he observed advancements. His main goal was to update President Bola Tinubu on the project’s progress.
The minister was impressed by the size and measure of the project, describing it as unlike anything seen before in the country. He praised the initiative, noting that it exceeded his expectations and comparing it to a magical place. Wike applauded the developers for their hard work and vision, understanding the zone’s ability to boost the economy and generate jobs for young people in the FCT. The initiative has been approved to function as a Free Zone, making it an attractive hub due to its consistent Electricity supply and modern facilities.

Wike emphasised the significance of dependable electricity in drawing investments, as it guarantees smooth business operations free from disruptions that have affected various industries nationwide. The minister’s approval of the initiative demonstrates the government’s dedication to backing projects to boost the economy and improve communities. Wike was impressed by the project’s focus on expanding the access road to the park, which he viewed as a key aspect. He committed to the FCT administration to provide ongoing support to ensure this crucial Infrastructure project is completed on schedule. The minister assured that the road project would enhance connectivity to the park and stimulate economic progress in the Idu District, elevating it to a bustling centre of commerce.
On his part, Mr. Adil Kurt, the Managing Director of Zeberced Group, also visualises the park generating a minimum of 40,000 direct employment opportunities. Wike emphasised the solid impact of this job creation and stressed the significance of this Investment that no government can ignore. He reinforced the government’s dedication to backing projects that influence the economy, stressing that developing Idu would be a model for economic advancement through industrialisation. The Zeberced Group was commended for its commitment to completing the project to excellence.
Made in Nigeria products were intended to attract international buyers.
He noted how the company’s focus on quality was reflected in the branding of all products manufactured at the facility, such as polypropylene pipes and sandwich insulation roofing sheets, which proudly displayed the Made in Nigeria label. Wike emphasised the significance of Manufacturing products adhering to global standards, citing that high-quality production could draw domestic consumers and open up opportunities in international markets. He further emphasised the project’s impact on the national economy. Recognising the park’s emphasis on local manufacturing and production, he noted its alignment with the government’s objectives of enhancing self-reliance and minimising import reliance.
Also, he pledged to ensure the Security of the developers’ investment and urged additional support for local production initiatives. During the project presentation, Mr. Kurt shared more details about the park, including its 250-hectare size and unique status as a free zone with 208 workshops in operation. The park aims to assist small and medium-sized industries by promoting a supportive business environment. He noted that production activities were already in progress, indicating the park’s readiness to boost the country’s economic growth.
